SEO Copywriting Services and SEO Copywriting Tips (2)
We offer SEO copywriting services. But we also offer helpful hints and tips on SEO copywriting if you want to save money and “Do It Yourself”!
If you want to be your own SEO copywriter, there are some main things you need to be aware of:
First of all it’s pretty easy to do SEO writing and write an optimized page. If you are just joining us today you may want to refer to yesterday’s post which was part one of our SEO tips and copywriting tips for your Search Engine Optimized web pages. Click Here!
Today’s SEO copywriting tips is on the Basic Mechanics of a well written Search Engine Optimized web page:
- first you need to have the keywords you are targeting…have you done your keyword research yet? Click here for more on this.
- You want to have one primary keyword for which you are writing an SEO page. 1-2 other related keywords are a good idea to incorporate in your page.
- In the title of your page you want to use your keyword or keyword phrase in the first part of the title. Keep your title to 60 characters as most search engines will cut off anything longer than that. (In your html code your page Title will come after the <HEAD> tag and fall between title tags and look like this: <title>Your Keyword Page Title<title/>
- You want to use your keyword in the name of you page. The name is actually the name of the page file, so if you were to type in the website address of your keyword page, it would look something like this: www.yourcompany.com/your-keyword-page.html
- You want spaces or dashes between the words in your page title! It’s very important as search engines will read words as they are meant to be read, not like: www.yourcompany.com/yourkeywordpage.html
- Make sure your targeted keywords are in your meta description tags in your code. Keep your keywords to 4-5 max! Your code will look something like this: <meta name=”keywords” content=”keyword 1, keyword 2,keyword 3″>
- Stay focused and targeted. DO NOT put keywords in your meta tags that are not written in the content of your page. That’s an SEO No-NO!
- Write the 1st paragrah of your page as your page description. This is what a searcher will see when they “Google” your keyword. Use your keyword in the first sentence. Make it bold. Use a related keyword in this paragraph. Use up to 160 characters only as the rest will be cut off!
- Remember when you’re writing this 1st paragraph that this is the first and only thing (besides your title) a searcher is going to see! Put yourself in your searcher’s shoes. Are you answering their needs or are you answering your own?
- In your code, your page description will look something like this: <meta name=”description” content=”You have found my keyword. We have lots of this keyword to offer you”>
- A good SEO page would run at least 4-5 paragraphs of solid informative content that is all relevant to the keyword. You’ll want to use your 1-2 other related keywords throughout the rest of the page.
- Sprinkle your primary keyword 4-5 times max. throughout the page. Your secondary keywords will add to your relevance and support your topic.
- Include your primary keyword in the final paragraph. You may simply want to reiterate your opening paragraph and your offering.
Write interesting compelling content. Have integrity and business will come to you!
Images, Linking and Alt Tags
- Include 2-3 images. Make sure the alt tags of your images use your primary keywords and maybe 1 secondary keyword. Link these images out to wherever and again use your primary keyword in the alt tags on the description links out.
- In the content of your page, link some of your keywords out to your relevant pages. Again use your primary keyword in the alt tags on the description links out.
These are the basics of writing an SEO page to drive relevant and highly targeted traffic to your website. If you have many SEO pages to create, I highly recommend some software to help you with this whole SEO copywriting business. Without at least this, you will rarely be found on the first page of Google or any other search engine for that matter. If you’d like to tackle this on your own, we’d like to recommend some software that tackles all of these things for you. This is in fact what we use to help you if you were to hire us for any of this! It’s called IBP Software. Check it out for yourself! See banner below:

Top 10 SEO Content Writing Tips Everyone Should Know
I am a subscriber to WordTracker’s Newsletter and wanted to share with you the most recent newsletter about SEO Copywriting and their “Top 10 SEO Content Writing Tips Everyone Should Know” . We also want to share one of our videos on Ethical Search engine optimization. Article follows the vidoe below:
This has been written by by Pierre Zarokian. Following are his Top 10 SEO Content Writing Tips:
You don’t have to sacrifice the quality of your work in order to create content that is search engine optimized and will help improve your ranking with the major search engines. By integrating certain important elements into your website content, directory submission articles, blog posts and social media content, you can make them easy for search engines to find and improve your overall ranking.
Here are ten of the key concepts to keep in mind:
1. Content matters: It’s important to remember that no matter what your subject matter is, your content has the potential to reach a large audience and help your company beyond the SEO benefits. Website content, articles and blog posts are ways to connect your company to relevant, interesting information about your industry. Creating copy that is well-written and focuses on interesting topics in your industry will help it go beyond increasing your page rank by being linked to and shared by outsiders.
2. Stay on topic: Business writing is not the same as writing your personal blog! There’s nothing wrong with adding some personality to your writing – this helps to keep the readers intrigued. Just make sure that you stay focused on the business-oriented topic you are writing about and avoid drifting into unrelated tangents.
3. Write compelling headings: The titles of web pages and articles are among the first things that grab the attention of a reader. Don’t use a generic, boring headline which simply describes what the article or web copy is about. Instead, think like a newspaper headline writer and develop a headline which makes someone want to read more.
4. Ideal keyword length and density: Content written for web copy and articles for directory submission should be 300 to 1,000 words in length. Blog posting and posts on social media sites can be shorter. The length of your article will largely be determined by the number of keywords you are using: a keyword for every 50 to 100 words of content is a good rule of thumb.
5. Add keywords to the bio: Biographical information given for a magazine story or an article for a directory submission is a great chance for you to enhance your credentials and also optimize your content. Make sure that you include one keyword in your bio.
6. Don’t stack keywords: Cramming keywords in an article or page of web content (such as being part of a list) looks unprofessional since all of your linked keywords will be running together on the page. Spread your keywords evenly throughout the article so they look more organic.
7. Use meta descriptions: Meta descriptions are 150 character descriptions of your content and are excellent opportunities for optimization. Make sure your content has meta descriptions with keywords included. This is a great way to get Google to recognize your content and increase its value.
8. Write and tag hierarchically: In order for Google and other search engines to give your content the highest placement possible, it’s important that it looks professional and well-structured. Using the appropriate tags for your content will do this. Use h1 tags for titles, h2 tags for subtitles and so on. This concept will also help your writing by encouraging you to put your most compelling ideas first.
9. Write original content: Having duplicate content is a major no-no for search engine optimization, so don’t just “copy and paste” content from existing sources. Make sure your content is fresh and original – even copying your own content is a poor SEO decision.
10. Choose relevant images: Creative Commons search tools like the Google Image Search Assistant will help you find intriguing images that are free to use without risking copyright infringement. Having eye-catching images that are relevant to your content will grab the reader’s attention.
